CeramOptec presents its latest development in fused-end bundles

Highly compact optical fiber bundles for high-performance applications

CeramOptec is launching a new generation for fused-end optical fiber bundles. Bundles can now be manufactured using the company’s newly developed process that allows maximum freedom in choosing the size and shape of the bundle’s fused end. This is particularly impactful in applications such as spectroscopy, semiconductor industry and in other applications that employ high-power light sources, and where high transmission efficiency is of paramount importance. With this new process the customer has greater flexibility to create more compact designs and use smaller connector types.

Bonn/Livani, June 27, 2024 – Optical fiber specialist, CeramOptec is expanding its capabilities in the manufacture of fiber bundles and opening up new possibilities for customers involved in applications in spectroscopy and semiconductor production as well as for others using high-power light sources. The company’s new and innovative, patentpending manufacturing process offers greater flexibility in the design of a fused bundle’s end shape (round, square, hexagonal, triangular, etc.) and allows for a more compact design. This ensures better light transmission and improved efficiency. Also, the more compact design allows the bundles to be used in combination with smaller connector types than before. Bundles created using this new process will be capable of power ranges into the multi-kW range or several tens of thousands of lumens and will be available with either CeramOptec’s Optran® WF or solarization-resistant Optran® UVNS fibers. All bundles will be custom configured for the customer’s specific needs.
