28.09.2026: CeramOptec Presents Itself as a Solution Provider for Medical Laser Applications at COMPAMED 2026

From specialty fiber to medical application: CeramOptec combines its fiber expertise with an integrated value chain for medical laser solutions.

Bonn, September 28, 2026 – At COMPAMED 2026 in Düsseldorf, CeramOptec will present itself as a solution provider for medical laser applications in minimally invasive laser therapy. The focus is on a full-service solution spanning medical probes, laser systems, application expertise and regulatory requirements.
Thanks to its complete in-house value chain, fiber properties and components can be developed, optimized and manufactured specifically for the requirements of medical applications. The range of capabilities extends from in-house preform manufacturing and fiber drawing to the production of customized cables and fiber bundles as well as corresponding laser sources.

Different Applications, Different Requirements
CeramOptec will demonstrate how this approach is applied in different medical applications at COMPAMED, using phlebology, lithotripsy and the laser-based treatment of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) as examples. The three applications place different demands on the laser source, wavelength, fiber technology and energy delivery and will also be the focus of a presentation by Dr. Markus Röhner, Managing Director CeramOptec, at the COMPAMED HIGH-TECH FORUM by IVAM.

In phlebology, the combination of suitable wavelengths with radial emission enables targeted energy delivery, supporting gentler treatment and faster recovery. Laser lithotripsy has different requirements, with different combinations of pulse energy and frequency used depending on the treatment strategy. In the laser-based treatment of NMIBC, two different wavelengths for coagulation and ablation are combined with a special fiber geometry to achieve homogeneous emission characteristics.

“Our strength lies in looking beyond individual components and considering the entire chain through to the medical application. We can bring together fiber technology, medical probes and laser systems for specific applications and support OEM customers from individual components through to the development and production of a complete system,” says Dr. Markus Röhner, Managing Director CeramOptec.

More Than Component Manufacturing
Beyond component manufacturing, CeramOptec supports customers throughout the development and implementation process. This includes ETO sterilization, biocompatible marking of fibers, regulatory support, as well as quality control and monitoring. The close integration of these capabilities makes it possible to align technical requirements with the subsequent medical application from an early stage of development.
Under the guiding principle “From laser source to medical probe – engineered as one integrated solution,” CeramOptec will place this approach at the center of its COMPAMED 2026 presence.
