Active Fibers – Power Amplification at the Core
For detailed technical specifications, please refer to the following datasheets:
Active fibers are the heart of modern laser and amplifier systems. By doping the core with rare-earth elements such as Ytterbium (Yb), Erbium (Er), or Thulium (Tm), they do more than just transmit light – they can amplify it or even generate laser radiation themselves. This enables highest beam quality, reliable output up to the kilowatt range, and flexible use in industry, medical technology, and research.
Key Features of Optran® Yb Fibers:
- High power capability up to the Multi-kW-range for fiber lasers and amplifiers
- Optimized core and cladding geometries for homogeneous beam profiles
- Full compatibility with our passive Optran® fibers for minimal splice losses
- Robust coatings and proven long-term reliability
Typical Applications:
- Industrial material processing (welding, cutting, structuring, micromachining)
- Laser-based medical technology and endoscopy
- Spectroscopy
- Research & development in high-power laser systems
Our Optran® Yb fibers feature a triple-clad design that ensures efficient pump light absorption, improved mode control, and outstanding beam quality even at high power levels.
